Graduation, Holidays, and Gillette

So, it's been a crazy couple of weeks. After Savannah was born, I still had about 3 weeks left of the semester. I also had an Independent Study class due on the 18th that I'd only completed 2 out of 16 writing assignments for because that's the terrible procrastinator that I am; I also had to do a midterm and a final for that class. So, I had the most exhausting weeks of my life. I couldn't have done it without my mom though. She was extremely helpful. And, I somehow got it all done in time. Granted, I finished my last final at 9 p.m. on the last day, but I somehow managed to get Bs in all the classes I cared about and a C in the interior design class that I cared nothing about. So, I finished school. I was actually kind of sad about it though. I really love school and I'm sad it's over. I've pretty much decided that eventually I'm going to get my MSW (Masters of Social Work) and do some kind of therapy. But, that's a long ways off.

On Christmas Eve, Savannah and I drove to North Ogden to say goodbye to a few friends and then we went to Kaysville to spend the night with Corey's family. I was very excited to see Corey at 10 that night. Then, around 7:45 he texted me to tell me that his friend Matt's car had broken down and they were stranded. Not cool. Luckily they were safe and not cold because they got towed to Little America. So, Brian and Stockton drove up and rescued them and we had a very late night reunion. Corey was so happy to see his little baby after so long. He was excited when she woke up at 3 a.m. and he played with her tons. So much for trying to teach her that night time is for sleeping… It was really great to finally be together though.

A few days later it was time for the trek to Wyoming at 7:45 a.m. I was pretty worried about it because Savannah only likes the car occasionally and it's an 8 and a half hour drive… The first thing we did was drive to Ogden to pick up Corey's friend Matt and his younger brother whose car was still at Little America. Poor little Savannah cried a lot of the way to Ogden and we didn't know why at the time. We were sure worried what the rest of the day would bring. I was also worried about Corey's friend. I didn't know anything about him except that he was too tall to sit in the front seat since the car seat in the back takes up all the leg room. I was also sitting in the back to take care of the baby. I was all worried I was going to be squished next to some awkward weirdo. Luckily, Matt was a nice, normal guy and it wasn't awkward, just crammed. Our first stop after Ogden was Little America where I discovered why Savannah had been so upset before. She'd spit up all over her outfit and pooped through her diaper and outfit. I felt so bad she'd been riding like that! Luckily she was a little angel the rest of the time. She either slept or looked around happily. She's a good baby. We finally reached our apartment at 9:45. It was a really long day. Travelling with an infant takes forever…

So, now we're in Gillette. Our apartment is really nice and I love it. Savannah is growing and learning more each day. She does some really cute things. She has this stuffed snowman that Corey got when he was stranded at Little America that she loves to look at. She'll just lie on the floor and talk and smile at the snowman for 15 minutes at a time. It's really cute and a good way for me to get things done. She loves it when we stick our tongues out at her after she does. She is starting to smile a lot which is really fun. She's finally starting to be able to wear a few of her 0-3 month clothes, but she's mostly in newborn clothes still. She's 5 weeks old now! I can't believe how time flies. I'm trying to get her on a schedule of some sort, but she has a mind of her own… Last night she slept from 10 to 6. I won't complain if that becomes a regular thing, but I'm not planning on it.

Anyway, that's our updates. Hopefully I can get some pictures of the apartment soon.

I'm struggling to get pictures uploaded with our crappy internet connection, so visit this link to see what I would have posted.
